Force of Love

My children love me with a violent force.

Their energizer bunny energy

knocks me over,

their exuberance bruises.

I lean over,

they pounce on my back

like a lion.

Tiny legs and arms,

constantly windmilling about,

running full-speed ahead.

Collisions,

head-bumps,

little bulldozers,

knocking over

everything in their path.

They don’t mean to injure.

They cover me with kisses when

I can’t bite back the pain.

They just don’t know how strong

Their force of love is.
